A vintage rare Neapolitan silver amulet, depicting a blindfolded goddess, a striking embodiment of both mystery and protection. Known locally as a cornetto bendato, this charm hails from southern Italy’s deep-rooted tradition of symbolic jewellery designed to ward off the malocchio (evil eye).
Cast in Italian silver (with an obscure silver stamp), the piece likely dates from the 1950s to 1960s, either handmade or produced in small artisanal batches for folk or religious markets. Its stylised form somewhere between a horn of plenty (cornucopia) and a divine female figure. It carries potent layers of meaning:
* Luck is blind: a reminder of fortune’s unpredictability
* Mystic veil: protection from unseen negativity
* Power in restraint: luck held just out of reach
This particular charm measures approx. 4.5 x 0.6 cm and weighs about 4.9 grams.
In good vintage/used condition, with subtle signs of age and character, the kind only time can craft.
!!! Originally sourced from an Italian dealer as part of a bundle of eight distinct blindfolded goddess charms (see image 8), each will be sold separately here one by one. A beautiful and powerful addition to any collection of talismans, amulets, or esoteric jewellery.
