I’m bring here another stunning and mysterious late Victorian Christ leg pendant made of bone and mounted on a 14k gold embellished base.
This marvellous 19th century figurative leg pendant is the first leg of its kind that I’m selling here (I have sold three arms previously) and it comes from my private collection of ex votos, religious items and body parts jewellery pendants - which I’ll be selling gradually here and on my website. It was acquired in Italy from an antique collector a few years back together with other Christ body parts mounted on different gold bases embellished with different details. The collection was originally sold to me as a Victorian body part group of ex-voto charms and pendants. This leg is part of a pair mounted on an exactly same gold case, the other leg I’ll be keeping in my collection for the time being… They were probably originally set as a pair of exotic earrings.
On the foot, there are two small stones a Ruby on the front and a clear quartz one on the palm, symbolising the Stigmata.
The 14k gold base have no hallmarks - acid tested positive as 14k gold.
In good antique/used condition with some small signs of age on its surface and on its gold case, to which considering its age, in my opinion, only add to its remarkable antique mystery. (Antique items are almost always pre-worn and will typically have some level of wear). Please refer to images for condition and further details.
The leg is beautifully carved depicting veins and light muscles.
It measures approximately 7.7 cm (including the bail) by 1.2 cm. It weighs approximately 5.7 grams.
The chain on image 10 is just used as a reference.
Kindly check my policies regarding returns, exchanges and shipping specifics. Making a purchase means you agree to these policies, so please familiarise yourself before you make your purchase.
