A striking and beautifully antique Mediterranean coral figa, mounted in 14k gold and dating to the late 19th century.

The coral has a rich, warm pink/orange tone with gentle natural variation, giving it real depth and character. The hand is finely carved, with delicate gold nails and a 14k gold cap (acid tested), while the bail tests as 9k gold. There are no hallmarks, which is not unusual for pieces of this type and age.

This figa was acquired in France as part of a Victorian coral charm bracelet. It remains in good antique condition, with age-related wear to both the coral and gold, entirely in keeping with its history.

Measurements: approx. 3.2 cm (including bail) x 0.8 cm

Weight: approx. 1.6 grams

(Note: The chain shown in image 8 is for reference only.)

Traditionally worn as a talisman against the evil eye, the mano fico has long been associated with protection and hope. A meaningful piece for anyone drawn to antique devotional jewellery or the symbolism often linked with St Jude, patron saint of lost causes and quiet resilience.

A small but powerful charm, full of history and presence.
