Antique 14k Gold Hand Charm Black Jet Mano Fico Victorian Amulet Figa Pendant

A striking and unusual antique hand pendant, carved from a deep black material most consistent with jet, and mounted in an ornate 14k solid gold setting.

The hand is shown grasping a short bar, a rare and evocative variation on the traditional mano fico or protective hand motif. In symbolic terms, a hand holding an object is often associated with strength, resolve, protection and control over one’s fate — a powerful Victorian sentiment, particularly in jewellery worn close to the body.
