Presenting an exquisite antique/vintage solid 14k gold intaglio ring featuring a bloodstone heraldic coat of arms adorned with the motto "Faman Extedimus Factis" (We Spread Our Fame by Our Deeds).
It’s the second ring I sell here with the same family crest, both rings were purchased together from an estate sale in the continent.
The ring bears a faded 14k stamp (indicating its gold purity) and what appears to be the letter J or L - confirmed as 14k gold through positive acid testing.
The bloodstone intaglio measures approximately 1.5 cm x 1.4 cm, the ring weighs a staggering 13.0 grams and is a US size 6 or UK size M.
In my assessment, the bloodstone intaglio seems to be quite old, having been later mounted onto a solid 14k gold ring from the mid-20th century. The ring boasts the distinctive bulkiness and substantial design characteristic of mid-century rings.
Despite its age, the ring is in good vintage/used condition, displaying subtle signs of aging on its surface, which, in my view, enhances its extraordinary appeal. It's important to note that vintage items are typically pre-worn and may show some level of wear, as depicted in the images.
The family crest features a bull, an armour, a flag with three bull heads together with the latin motto.
(The crest belongs to the Veitch Family) https://www.houseofnames.com/veitch-family-crest
