A striking antique charm crafted from natural coral and finished with a beautifully detailed 14k gold cap.
This late-19th-century piece features a warm, tapering coral horn securely set into an ornate 14k gold mount (not hallmarked but verified as 14k through positive acid testing). The pendant is suspended from a sturdy 9k gold bail, ready to be worn or added to a charm collection.
Shaped in the traditional Italian corno style, an iconic symbol tied to protection and good fortune, this charm carries both cultural meaning and undeniable character.
It measures approximately 3.5 cm in length (including the bail) and about 1 cm at its widest point, with a total weight of around 2.3 grams.
In good antique/used condition, the coral shows the natural surface texture and soft patina expected from a piece of its age. These marks are intrinsic to genuine antique coral and contribute to the charm’s authenticity and old-world appeal. As with all antique jewellery, light wear is to be expected. Please refer to the photographs for a closer look at its condition.
Often called a cornicello or cornetto, meaning “little horn” in Italian, this traditional amulet has long been associated with deflecting negative energy and inviting luck. This example is a wonderful blend of history, symbolism, and craftsmanship.
