This charming Victorian figa is beautifully carved from bone and mounted in its original 18k gold setting.
Dating from the late 19th century, the hand delicately clasps a gold key, a powerful symbol of protection, opportunity, and the unlocking of life’s hidden doors.
The ornate gold mount, bracelet-like collar, key and nail details have all tested as 18k gold (unhallmarked). The gold displays a particularly attractive tone, sitting somewhere between warm yellow gold and a soft rosy hue.
A traditional protective amulet against bad luck and the evil eye, this is a wonderfully evocative piece of antique folk jewellery with both decorative and symbolic appeal.
In good antique condition with age-related wear and some distress to the gold mount, consistent with its age and history. Please refer to the photographs.
Measures approximately 4.7 cm long (including bail) × 2.1 cm wide and weighs approximately 5.4 grams.
