Superb Edwardian 18K gold religious medal, depicting Our Lady of the Conception surrounded by angels.
The magnificent gold pendant is designed with our Lady’s image exquisitely raised from the medal, as if it was carved on the gold, the Virgin appears merging from the holly scene. On the background silhouettes of angels and a beautiful glowing halo behind her head. The medal has a beautiful white gold embellished frame depicting a ribbon on each side. It has also some old rough diamond and rubellite chips decorating the medal.
Engraved on the back of the medal the initials M.L.M. and the date 25.11.912
In good antique/used condition with small signs of ageing to which, in my opinion, only adds to its magical appeal. - Antique items are almost always pre-worn and will typically have some level of wear. Please refer to images for condition and further details.
The medal is made of 18k gold - It has an obscure hallmark on the right near the angels - acid tested positive as 18k gold.
The religious medal is Portuguese and it measures approximately 3.1 cm (including bail) by 1.7 cm.
It weighs approximately a staggering 3,7 grams of gold.
The medal is sold on its own. The chain on image 8 is just used as a reference.
An extremely special and precious piece of jewellery dated from late early 1900s designed on a beautiful art nouveau style with baroque references.
