Antique 9k Gold Black Figa Pendant, Coral Peach or Heart Charm, Lucky Hand Amulet, Mano Fico, Italian Good Luck Talisman, 1920s Charm

A charming antique figa pendant dating to the 1920s, beautifully carved from a black material, most likely jet or vulcanite, and adorned with yellow warm rose-hued 9k gold fittings, acid tested positive as 9k gold despite the absence of hallmarks.

The finely modelled hand is decorated with individually applied gold nails, a delicate twisted gold bracelet and a beautifully hand-finished gold cap. Suspended from its grasp is a beautifully carved natural coral charm, most likely depicting either a small heart or a peach, attached with a 14k gold fitting that was probably added during the pendant’s lifetime as a cherished personal embellishment.

The gold cap and decorative fittings display gentle age-related wear and a softly time-worn surface developed through decades of careful use, including small dents, giving the pendant the authentic character expected of a well-loved antique talisman. 

Whether interpreted as a heart or a peach, the symbolism is equally compelling. The heart has long represented love, devotion and affection, while the peach traditionally symbolises longevity, abundance and good fortune. 

This pendant was acquired from an Italian antique dealer alongside several other antique figa hands, each with its own distinctive character, which will be offered individually.
