A timeless and collectible late Victorian bone figa pendant, paired with a charming miniature Mother of Pearl pig, creating a truly unique piece.

Fists and Figas featuring animal motifs suspended from their hands are endlessly captivating. This particular pendant comes as it was originally acquired from a dealer in the UK. I believe the miniature pig was likely added later, possibly carrying symbolic meaning or reflecting a trend of the time.

The hand itself is finely carved, offering both visual and tactile appeal. It is set in a 9k gold embellished case (acid-tested positive for 9k gold), with delicate gold nails accenting the fingers. The hand grips a 9k gold twisted thin bar (acid-tested positive for 9k gold), while the miniature pig is suspended from a 9k gold twisted hook (also acid-tested positive for 9k gold).

In good antique/used condition, the gold case shows minor signs of age, and the miniature pig displays surface wear typical of its time. These signs of use only enhance the antique character and mystery of the piece. As with all antique jewellery, some level of wear is to be expected. Measuring approximately 5.5 cm in length (including the bail) and 2.2 cm in width, this unique pendant weighs about 5.5 grams.
