Antique 9k Gold Skull Pendant, Victorian White Coral Memento Mori Charm, Hand Carved Skull, 1800s Neapolitan Italy, 19th Century Jewelry


A rare and evocative early Victorian Memento Mori pendant, naively hand-carved from white coral into the form of a skull. This extraordinary piece hails from Naples, Italy, a city deeply rooted in the tradition of crafting symbolic jewellery.

Dating back to the early 1800s, this pendant embodies the Memento Mori philosophy, serving as a striking reminder of life’s fleeting nature. Its interesting details and delicate craftsmanship make it a truly exceptional piece.

Acquired from an antique dealer in Naples, this skull pendant was originally part of a pair, with its twin mounted as a pin (which will soon be available in my shop). 

The twisted hook is 9k gold with no hallmark, acid tested as 9k gold. I have replaced the original bail, with a new 9k gold one (acid tested positive as 9k gold), ensuring its durability while preserving its authenticity.

Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear that only enhances its unique character. Please refer to the images for details.
