A rare and beautifully detailed Victorian stick pin depicting a carved horn fly delicately perched on a natural coral branch.

Measuring approximately 4.6 cm in length, the piece features a finely carved stained horn fly delicately perched on a natural coral branch. The fly, measuring around 1.5 × 1.5 cm, is remarkably detailed, with carefully shaped wings and a sculpted body that captures the natural elegance of the insect. The coral branch, approximately 2.1 × 2.1 cm, provides a striking organic contrast, its warm colour and natural form perfectly complementing the darker horn carving.

The stick pin weighs approximately 1.5 grams and is mounted on a base metal pin, typical of many Victorian novelty stickpins.

Pieces like this reflect the Victorian fascination with naturalistic jewellery, where insects, plants and small creatures were rendered with remarkable delicacy and imagination. Despite its small size, the craftsmanship is impressive, making it a charming and collectible example of late 19th-century jewellery design.

Condition:
Good antique condition with light wear consistent with age. Minor signs of time only add to the character of this unusual and well-preserved piece.

A delightful and uncommon Victorian stick pin, ideal for collectors of naturalistic jewellery or insect-themed antiques.
