Antique Horn Figa Pendant, Victorian Mano Fico Charm, Mother of Pearl Rosebuds, Protective Amulet, Folk Talisman, Lucky Hand Charm

A wonderfully unusual antique Figa pendant, carved from dark stained horn and depicted in the traditional form of a clenched fist grasping two delicate mother-of-pearl rosebuds. Warm gold-tone fittings, individually applied nails and a slender bracelet complete this charming late Victorian piece.

Acquired from an Italian antique dealer, this pendant belongs to a group of highly individual folk amulets combining traditional figa symbolism with decorative natural materials such as mother of pearl and coral.

The gold-tone cap shows noticeable age-related wear and surface distress accumulated over many decades. Rather than detracting from the piece, this beautifully weathered appearance contributes greatly to its character, giving the pendant the sort of honest, time-earned surface that collectors often seek but which can never be convincingly reproduced.
