Here is another delightful antique silver Santos crown/tiara.
Early 19th century Portuguese sterling silver santos crown/halo.
This antique silver halo/crown was made to be worn over the head of a santo or saint. It is a beautiful example of colonial Portuguese folk art.
It has a stunning star right at its centre.
In good antique/used condition with small signs of ageing, which considering its age, in my opinion, only add to its true splendour. Please refer to the images!
It measures approximately 8.5 cm long by 11 cm wide and it weighs approximately 16 grams of silver. No silver hallmark - it has been tested as silver.
Very special and beautifully crafted, it hasn't been cleaned, but if the option is to have it cleaned, do it thoroughly and the original sterling silver will shine even more.
It's part of my personal collection of Ex Votos and Santos Crowns/Halos. I'll be selling some pieces of my collection gradually.
It is beautiful example of colonial religious/folk art, to be added to your silver collection, or to crown a special santo.
