Antique Silver Santos Crown, 1800s Religious Halo Red Stone
Antique Silver Santos Crown, 1800s Religious Halo Red Stone
Stupendous antique silver santos halo.
Early 19th century Portuguese/Spanish silver altar figure crown.
This striking antique silver halo/crown was made to be worn over the head of a santo or saint figure. It is a beautiful example of colonial Portuguese/Spanish folk art.
It has gorgeous silver rays of different length and a flower design in the centre with a sparkly red stone/glass.
In good antique condition with small signs of ageing, which in my opinion only add to its true mysterious beauty. (Antique items are almost always pre-used and will typically have some level of wear - Please refer to the images).
It measures approximately 20.8 cm (including the metal holder) by 11 cm. The halo itself measure approximately 13.3 cm by 11 cm.
It weighs approximately 27 grams in total.
No silver hallmark the halo - it has been tested as silver.
Very delicate and beautifully crafted, it hasn't been cleaned, but if the option is to have it cleaned, do it thoroughly and the original sterling silver will shine even more.
