A rare antique Victorian figa pendant, featuring a hand-carved bone fist mounted in an 18k gold cap and bail. (Acid tested positive as 18k gold).
The carving is bold and primitive in character, with deeply incised fingers, a rounded knuckle form, and etched band detailing around the wrist, giving the charm a powerful folk presence and unmistakable age.
The surface displays a warm, natural patina consistent with genuine 19th-century wear. Subtle tool marks, softened edges, and small age lines in the bone further support its authentic antique character. The carving remains expressive and tactile, with a strong sculptural silhouette.
In traditional Italian and Mediterranean folklore, the figa (Mano Fico) was worn as a protective talisman against the evil eye and misfortune, making this both a historically meaningful amulet and a striking collectible.
• Material: Carved bone with 18k solid gold mount
• Period: Early Victorian, 19th century (c. 1800s)
