A beautifully designed Edwardian 9ct gold festoon pendant, elegant and full of character. This delicate antique piece is stamped 9ct and has been tested positive as 9 carat gold.
At the centre sits a large warm amber coloured glass stone, carefully cut to imitate a citrine or topaz. During the Edwardian period (around 1900–1915) it was quite fashionable for jewellers to use coloured glass stones in place of gemstones, allowing them to create striking designs while keeping the jewellery more affordable.
The pendant is wonderfully composed, with graceful festoon chains suspending two charming Mediterranean coral drops carved as flower buds, along with a further smaller glass drop beneath the main stone. The combination of the glowing amber tones and the soft coral pink gives the piece a refined and distinctly Edwardian charm.
The openwork frame and delicate draped chains create movement and lightness, making it a particularly elegant pendant when worn.
