An exquisite and unique Victorian 18k gold snake ring.

A captivating piece that elegantly intertwines symbolism and craftsmanship. This ring features a snake head eating its on tail. On its head there are four Amethysts and on each eye a small Rubellite. The gold on its body and head is beautifully embellished.

In good antique/used condition with the usual small signs of ageing, to which in my opinion only add to its wonder. (Antique items are almost always pre-worn and will typically have some level of wear). Please refer to images for condition and further details.

The image of a snake eating its own tail, often referred to as the "Ouroboros," is an ancient symbol that represents a variety of concepts, mostly cantering around infinity, the cycle of birth and death, and the eternal return. Originating in ancient Egyptian iconography and later adopted by Greek magical tradition, the Ouroboros symbolises the endless cycle of nature's endless creation and destruction, life and death, and the universe's perpetual renewal. In Victorian times snake rings and braceletes were a symbol of wisdom, love, and eternity.
