Vintage 14k Gold Green Figa Pendant, Mano Fico Lucky Charm, Mother of Pearl Scissors Charm, Protective Hand Amulet, 1950s Jewellery

An unusual and symbolic vintage green Figa hand pendant, dating to around the 1950s and mounted in solid 14k gold.

Carved from rich green resin, this distinctive Mano Fico is adorned with a decorative 14k gold cap, bracelet and gold fingernails. Clasped within the hand is a charming pair of miniature mother of pearl scissors, adding an unexpected and delightful touch that makes this piece especially rare.

The gold hue glows with a warm blend of yellow and rose.

The Figa (Mano Fico) has been worn for centuries throughout Portugal, Italy and parts of South America as a protective talisman believed to ward off the evil eye, attract good fortune and bring strength to its wearer. The addition of the tiny scissors may also symbolise cutting away misfortune or negative influences, making this an exceptionally evocative charm.

The hand appears to be carved from green resin (probably Catalin or Galalith), while the miniature scissors are crafted from mother of pearl. The gold mount bears no visible hallmarks but has been acid tested as solid 14k gold.

The pendant remains in good vintage condition, with light signs of age and wear consistent with a well-loved vintage piece. Vintage jewellery is almost always pre-owned and will naturally display gentle evidence of its history, please examine the photographs carefully.

This pendant was acquired from a dealer as part of a small collection of similar hand charms, each clasping a different miniature mother of pearl object. One of the companions from this group has already found a new home through my shop.
