Vintage 14k Gold Mano Fico Pendant, 14 ct Gold Galalith Mother of Pearl Figa, Italian Good Luck Hand Charm

An unusual and richly symbolic vintage Italian mano fico hand pendant, carved from coral-toned original Galalith and mounted in an ornate 14k gold case.

Shaped as a clenched hand, this traditional hand amulet is accented with delicate gold nail details and a finely worked gold bracelet at the wrist. Suspended from the hand is a charming miniature mother-of-pearl spinning top, also set in 14k gold,  a playful yet poetic detail often associated with protection, movement, and the turning of fortune. 

No hallmarks - acid tested positive as 14k gold

Galalith, an early synthetic material invented in the late 19th century, was widely prized for jewellery thanks to its smooth, luminous finish and durability. Its warm coral hue gives this piece the visual richness of natural coral, while remaining distinctly of its time.

The mano fico has long been worn in Mediterranean cultures as a good-luck charm and protective talisman, traditionally believed to ward off negativity and ill fortune.
