An intriguing vintage figa pendant, featuring a glossy black hand carved from what is believed to be Bakelite, grasping a small golden key.

The hand is adorned with delicate 18k gold details, including individually mounted fingernails, a twisted bracelet and an engraved gold cap. The contrast between the deep black material and warm gold gives this unusual piece a striking character.

Traditionally worn to ward off the evil eye and attract good fortune, the mano fico is an enduring symbol of protection. The little key adds another layer of meaning, traditionally associated with opening doors and unlocking opportunities.

The pendant is in good vintage condition, with visible signs of age, including surface marks to the black material and wear and distortion to the gold key and fittings. Please examine the photographs carefully.

Details:
Material: Black resin, believed to be Bakelite, with 18k gold fittings
Gold: 18k gold cap, bail, bracelet and fingernails. The gold case bears a faint, worn stamp, and the gold has been acid-tested as 18k.
Dimensions: Approx. 4.2 × 2 cm, including bail
Weight: Approx. 2.65 g
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear, particularly to the gold key and fittings
The chain shown in the photograph 9 is for styling purposes only and is not included.
