A classic 9k gold signet ring featuring an oval Victorian chalcedony matrix.
The chalcedony displays a cartouche-shaped reserve adorned with initials and a crest intaglio portraying a rearing cat, accompanied by a ribbon motto 'Meliora Spero' ("Meliora Spero" is Latin for "I hope for better things" or "I hope for better." It's a phrase often used to convey optimism and a belief in striving for improvement or better outcome).
The stone is rub-over set between tapering shoulders, resting on a flat-section shank with hallmarks indicating Sheffield 375.
Acid testes positive as 9k gold
Approximately sizes: UK size: O, US 7.5
Weighs approximately 11.6g.
The ring is in good vintage/used condition; with small signs of ageing - which in my opinion only adds to its timeless appeal. Vintage items are almost always pre-worn and will typically have some level of wear - Please refer to the images.
The intaglio is Victorian, the gold setting is late 1980s.
