Vintage 9k Gold Stag Beetle Horn Charm: Cyclommatus Metallifer Insect

A vintage natural Stag beetle horn mounted on an 9k gold case, no hallmarks - acid tested positive as 14k gold.

This midcentury sensational and highly unusual scarab beetle mandible measures approximately 3.3 cm by 1 cm.

In good vintage/used condition, with small signs of age - to which in my opinion only add to its true beauty. (Vintage items are almost always pre-worn and will typically have some level of wear). Please refer to images for condition and further details.

In ancient Egyptian culture the scarab was a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation and protection, in South America beetle horn's charms were used, in the 18th and 19th century as amulets agains bad luck. And still in South America charms bracelets with such pendants become fashionable once again in the 1950s and 1960s.
