These unique gilt bronze decorative pair of fingers are the creation of award-winning artist Pietrina Checcacci.

Checcacci was born in Taranto, Italy in 1941, she relocated to Rio de Janeiro at the age of 13. While her artistic repertoire spans various forms, these distinctive pieces originate from the 1970s and early 80s, a period during which body parts were central to her artistry. Often released in numbered, limited editions (with this set designated as 25 out of 100), these beautifully sculpted fingers exemplify her collectible works.

Crafted with meticulous detail and exquisitely cast, these weighted objects feature two bronze fingers curved in position, with the index finger with its fingertip facing downwards and the thumb finger on its side — a whimsical touch that adds character to any space. Perfect for accenting a coffee table or bookshelf, these fingers offer a quirky yet elegant addition to your decor.

The two fingers together weigh approximately 1kg in total (the index weighs approximately 440 grams and the thumb approximately 590 grams). The index measures approximately 7.5 x 9 x 3.5 cm and the thumb 4 x 12 x 5 cm

Signed and numbered on the back on the thumb finger (see image 8)

Checcacci's artistic focus predominantly revolves around the human figure and body parts, utilising paintings and cast bronze sculptures as her chosen mediums. Over her illustrious career, spanning since the 1960s, she has amassed an impressive portfolio of ninety solo exhibitions and fifty collective exhibitions worldwide. Her bronze hands and fingers are very collectable and appreciated significantly in value over the past decade.
